Drill Sergeant is built around accountability, app discipline, daily strategy, and evening reports. This policy explains what the app and website collect, what stays on your device, when data is sent for processing, and how you stay in control.

Who We Are

This policy covers Drill Sergeant, the discipline app on Google Play (package xyz.drillsgt.app), and this website at drillsergeantapp.com.
Drill Sergeant is operated from the United Kingdom and is the data controller for the information described here.

Information The App Collects

Details you provide in the app: your name, chosen campaign goals and targets, selected day off, and your chosen wake-up time.
Your progress: rank, points, streaks, daily strategy, evening reports, completed objectives, verified push-ups, and your day-by-day record.
Daily strategy and evening report text that you type or dictate.
Restricted-app discipline events, such as a selected restricted app name, violation count, penalty status, and timestamp.
Notification preferences and the status of Android permissions the app needs to run reminders and discipline features.
Most of this information is stored only on your device. It is not sent to us unless a specific feature described below requires it.

AI Processing Of Your Text

When you ask Captain Jack to review your strategy or report, or to decide your orders, the text you entered is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards it to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate Captain Jack’s response.
This text is processed to produce a reply and is not used to build an advertising profile of you.
Captain Jack’s spoken voice is generated by sending his reply text to our voice provider (ElevenLabs). The audio is streamed back to your device.

Voice Input

Voice input is used only when you press the speak button.
Depending on the feature, your speech is either transcribed on your device by your device’s own speech service, or recorded and sent over an encrypted connection to our server, which forwards the audio to our transcription provider (ElevenLabs) and returns the text.
We do not listen in the background. The microphone is used only during an active voice input you started.

Camera And Push-Up Verification

The camera is used only during a push-up verification session that you start.
Push-up detection runs entirely on your device. Camera images are processed on-device to count repetitions and are not uploaded, stored, or sent to us or any third party.
Only the resulting rep count is saved to your progress on the device.

Usage Access

Drill Sergeant uses Android Usage Access to detect when a selected restricted app is opened, for app discipline, violation counts, and point penalties.
Usage Access is not used to read messages, photos, contacts, passwords, payment information, or private in-app content.
You can turn Usage Access off at any time in Android settings.

Accessibility Service

Drill Sergeant uses the Android Accessibility Service only to detect the app currently in the foreground and to show the Drill Sergeant lock screen when a selected restricted app is opened.
The Accessibility Service does not read screen text or conversations, does not type on your behalf, does not collect passwords, and does not complete purchases.
App discipline is optional. You can disable the Accessibility Service at any time in Android settings, and the rest of the app continues to work.

Subscriptions And Payments

Drill Sergeant Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription with a free trial, sold through Google Play.
Payment is processed by Google. We never see or receive your card or bank details.
The app receives only whether your subscription is active. You can manage or cancel it any time in the Google Play Store under Subscriptions.

How We Use Information

To run daily strategy, evening reports, rank progression, streaks, reminders, push-up verification, app discipline, and day-off behavior.
To generate Captain Jack’s coaching responses and voice.
To keep your progress and show feedback inside the app.
To operate your subscription and to improve reliability, user experience, and abuse prevention.

Service Providers We Share With

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
We use a small number of trusted providers to run the service: Vercel (hosting of our website and backend), Anthropic (AI responses), ElevenLabs (voice generation and transcription), and Google Play (app distribution and subscription billing).
These providers process data only to perform their function for us. Some are located in the United States, so relevant data may be transferred internationally under appropriate safeguards.
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect users and the integrity of the service.

Data Retention And Your Controls

On-device data stays on your device until you delete it. Using the reset option in the app, or uninstalling the app, clears your on-device data.
Text and audio sent for AI processing is used to generate a response and is not retained by us to profile you.
You can turn off notifications, Usage Access, or the Accessibility Service in Android settings, and change your restricted apps in the app at any time.

Your Rights

If you are in the UK or EU, you have rights under UK GDPR / GDPR, including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact info@captainbro.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Children

Drill Sergeant is intended for adults and is not directed to children.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided data, contact info@captainbro.com and we will remove it.

Website And Waitlist

If you submit your email address on this website, we use it only to send launch and product updates.
You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time.
